The region was a restricted region up until because of its close geographical location with Tibet. As of now, trekkers will have to acquire a special pass from the department of Immigration to visit the region. The area is protected under Manaslu Conservation Area Project 1998 AD that covers a total of 1,663 square kilometers. The program works closely to preserve and uplift the natural resources, cultural heritage, and wildlife to promote eco-tourism of the region.

Manaslu Lower Eco Trek, Manaslu Circuit Trek, and Tsum Valley Trek are some of the popular trekking routes in the region. The beautiful Manaslu trekking route of 177 kilometers, skirts the beautiful Manaslu massif over the pass down towards Annapurna. Since the trekking trial follows an ancient salt-trading route to Tiber along the Budi Gandaki River, even today we can witness yak caravans heading to Tibet or descending south for trade. Along with the majestic Mt. Manaslu, the region houses other ten peaks above 6,500m, handful of 7,000m above peaks and other many peaks above 5,000m. The highest point one can reach during the trek lies at an elevation of 5,235m at Larkya La Pass from where we can have commendable views of the western and far western peaks of the Himalayan region.
